Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-04. BusinessPlanPilot is a product of, and is operated and sold by, The Bookkeeping Canada Inc.. These terms are your contract with The Bookkeeping Canada Inc. ("we", "us") and apply when you use BusinessPlanPilot. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
1. The service
BusinessPlanPilot is an automated online service that prepares a business plan package for businesses in Canada and the United States from information you give us. The package contains: a business plan (Microsoft Word, .docx), a financial projections workbook (Microsoft Excel, .xlsx) and a funding opportunities report (Microsoft Word, .docx). We do not currently produce PDF files.
2. Your account
You sign in with a one-time link we email to you. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can open that email can access your plan. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract, and you must provide information about a business you are entitled to plan for.
3. Automated preparation — what that means
Your plan is produced automatically. Software organises the information you provide, looks up publicly available information (for example government statistics and business-licence data, and published funding-program details), builds financial projections from your figures using fixed calculation rules, and writes the documents. We do not routinely have a person review your plan before it is released. We may check or hold a plan for review in some cases, for example when a quality check fails.
Where independent public information could not be found for your location or industry, the plan says so rather than inventing it. Third-party information is shown as we found it on the date shown and may be incomplete or out of date.
4. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate and complete information. The plan and projections are only as good as what you tell us, and you are responsible for the facts and assumptions you supply.
- Read the whole plan and workbook before you rely on them or give them to anyone else, and correct anything that is wrong for your business.
- Do not submit another person's confidential information without permission, and do not use the service for anything unlawful.
5. No advice and no guarantees
The package is a planning aid. It is not legal, tax, accounting, lending or investment advice, and we are not your advisers. We do not guarantee:
- that any lender, funder or program will approve, offer or provide financing or funding;
- that your business will succeed or be profitable, or that any forecast will be achieved;
- any tax, legal or regulatory result;
- that third-party information (including funding-program details, statistics and business listings) is accurate, complete or current.
Forecasts are estimates based on assumptions, and actual results will differ.
6. Price and payment
The price is shown in Canadian or U.S. dollars, according to the package you choose. For customers in Canada the price is before tax: GST or HST at the rate for your province or territory is added, and the checkout page shows the base price, the tax and the total before you pay. For customers in the United States the price shown is the total at launch, and no U.S. sales tax is added. Payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe); we never see or store your card number. The total shown on the checkout page is the amount charged. If we later become required to collect any other tax, it will be shown before you pay.
7. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.
8. Ownership
You keep ownership of the information you provide and of the documents produced for you, and you may use them for your business. We keep all rights in the software, templates and methods behind the service. You give us permission to store and process your information to provide the service and as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted access. We may change or discontinue features, and we may update these terms; the version date above shows the current text, and the version you accepted at checkout is recorded with your order.
10. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost financing or lost opportunities arising from your use of the service or the plan, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the package concerned. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
